Sheffield Mencap & Gateway is looking for ambitious and dynamic people to join our board of Trustees, to help steer our organisation in delivering a better future for people with learning disabilities and autism.
We support around 600 people, from all communities across the city of Sheffield. Our membership is diverse and inclusive, as is our workforce and our significant team of volunteers.
As we approach our 70th anniversary year in 2021, we have never faced such demand for our services. We support children, teenagers and adults with learning disabilities and autism across many aspects of their lives; from developing life skills and providing training and educational opportunities; to building self-esteem, developing friendships and making healthy lifestyle choices.
We also provide support to families and carers, whether it be help in accessing resources, benefits and planning for the future, or creating peer-led localised support networks.
We want to make some exciting additions to our team of Trustees, bringing on board motivated people who aren’t afraid to make bold decisions and who have the energy, ideas and ambition to make a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities and autism.
We want a board of Trustees that truly reflects the diverse people and communities that we support, and we are looking for applicants with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
We are particularly looking for expertise in strategic marketing, finance and corporate fundraising however if you don’t have skills in these areas, please don’t let this stop you. If you care about what we do, feel confident in making leadership decisions and can commit to a minimum of a 2-hour board meeting every six weeks (with additional sub-committees for specialist areas), then we want to hear from you.
