About Short Breaks
Short Breaks – which used to be called SNIPS – is a unique, person-centred service for children with a learning disability in Sheffield. We know that family life can be demanding, and Short Breaks provides respite for parents, carers and siblings who have the comfort of knowing that their child is doing activities they enjoy in a safe and secure environment.
Short Breaks at Sheffield Mencap and Gateway are multi-activity clubs offering sports, cooking, arts and crafts, music, games and full access to our sensory room. Children have freedom to choose from a range of activities, supported by staff that understand their needs and preferences. Short Breaks encourages the development of confidence, communication and social skills as well as having fun.
All clubs are well-staffed with fully trained and experienced team members. We can provide 1-2-1 support including managing personal care and medical needs.
