Sheffield Mencap and Gateway’s annual Christmas Fair returned on the 7th December, raising an incredible £5,553! It was wonderful to see our community come together to enjoy the Christmas spirit and support us to raise vital funds.

The fair was a joyful celebration of Christmas, with more activities and attractions on offer than ever before.

Visitors had the chance to win big in the grand raffle, featuring fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses, as well as getting lucky in the tombola.

Children and adults alike were thrilled to meet Santa in his grotto, play games including ‘penguin skittles’ and ‘nerf the elf’, get creative with Christmas crafts and have fun in the festive photobooth.

Delicious food and festive treats were served, including an array of homemade cakes. A craft fair featuring beautiful gifts handmade by members of Sheffield Mencap and Gateway was kept busy as visitors shopped for unique Christmas presents.

A highlight of the event was a live performance by The All Sorts band, whose talented members are all autistic and/or have learning disabilities. Their music brought energy and excitement to the day, getting the crowd dancing and singing along to Christmas classics.

All of the funds raised will go directly to support the continued running of sports and wellbeing groups at Sheffield Mencap and Gateway.

We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. The funds raised will make a significant difference in keeping our sports and wellbeing groups running. These groups are vital in ensuring that people with a learning disability have the same opportunities to take care of their physical health, mental wellbeing, and social connection as the wider population.
