The Carers Outreach Project (COPe) is an innovative programme for carers of people aged 18 and older with a learning difficulty/disability and/or autism.
Working within communities across Sheffield, we facilitate carers to connect with each other and form collaborative, supportive groups. Since the project began in 2019, groups have run activities including coffee mornings, bingo, music, drama, fitness, and socialising.
The COPe team can then upskill and empower carers to take ownership of these groups. COPe groups aim to be a place where carers and their cared-for person can go together to meet people and share experiences, as well as providing respite for the carer.
