Day

Day Services runs on Thursdays and Fridays. Its aim is to enable adults with learning disabilities to develop new and beneficial skills through meaningful daytime activities. What we do:

Mencafé

On Fridays the members run a café group based at Norfolk Lodge with the support of staff. The idea is to learn the skills needed for catering work such as cooking and baking, studying food hygiene and serving food and drinks to paying customers.

Buzzy Bees

The Buzzy Bee group design and make greeting cards and crafts which are then sold at various events and places around Sheffield. The funds raised are then put back into the group for materials and further development

Voices and Choices

This is an advocacy group which has linked up with Speaking Up For Advocacy (SUFA) and other advocacy groups across Sheffield to deal with citizenship issues for people with learning disabilities. The group also attend a monthly parliament which is held at the town hall which the group can contribute to and have their voices heard by the local government.

Arts & Drama

Through arts and drama we aim to build peoples' confidence and gain new skills. The group put together an annual performance which this year was an adaptation of the musical ‘Cats'. They also made some beautiful artwork & crafts for exhibition and to sell.

Colours in a Rainbow

Colours in a Rainbow festival is a film and arts festival which was developed in order to bring other creative groups in the area together and to celebrate everyone's creative talents and hard work. CIAR runs for a week in May and shows short films and artwork all made by people with learning disabilities at different venues across the city. It is hoped that the festival will continue to grow from strength to strength.
